Sneak Peek of the Blink Link

Hi Blinksters!

We've got a few big updates just in time for the Holidays! Read through to hear about our wildly successful PAX Unplugged experience, the Blink Link received a make-over, and a teaser video of the Blink Link receiving it's first (actually 3rd) game from an iPhone.

PAX Unplugged & Omegathon

This past weekend, the Move38 team got to connect with some backers and game designers, and the response to Blinks continues to astound us. Due to overwhelming demand, we sold out, and our most popular purchases were 18 & 21 games bundles!🤯

We rocked the house with a new Mario Party style of mini-games designed specifically for Omegathon. Everyone at PAX was excited about our next games. Our next Kickstarter will be launching in February 2022. Sign up here to make sure you get your Early Bird discounts!

One Blink. Infinite Possibilities.

We love how catchy it is to say Blink Link, and we also love how many of you mentioned the infinite games that this new link opens the doors for. The Blink Link logo gives nod to the NFC standard and dances with the idea of these infinite possibilities. We explored more link-like forms but ultimately fell in love with the fluidity of the form of our original Blink traveling along the infinity symbol.

Blink Link, Shockingly Fast.

The magic of NFC technology is looking even better than expected. I was shocked to see just how exciting this addition to the Blinks Game System will be. Take a look at the following video to see Josh testing the very first (errr actually 3rd) successful game upload to the Blink Link via NFC. Just like the blazing speed of the NFC, we are excited to be making all of this progress towards the future of in-person gaming.

We're hosting game maker events in 2022, starting the year off with Global Game Jam in the last week of January. This is the perfect time to test a game idea, come up with a new one, or get help from the community in realizing the next great game.

I can't wait for you to link up with lots of games and each other as we continue to grow the Blinks community. My father always told me that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. He fostered incredible teamwork on the baseball field, and I hope to carry on that legacy with our community.

You won't have to wait much longer

Since our last update, we made a lot of progress on our new hardware as well as developed a beta app. We've been populating the app with the existing games and using it for instructions, which is surprisingly handy. We'll launch the Blinks App first as a companion app before we run trials of the Blink Link.

It was such an incredible turnout and 80% of responses signed up to test the NFC functionality. We're finalizing details for our initial hardware and will then select the first testers in December. This is our biggest update, ever. I promise you don’t want to miss this. We’ve been incredibly hard at work building something new for the Blinks community that has been part of the dream all along. We need your help to make it perfect.

Filling out this 3 question survey will secure your spot in line for our next generation Blinks. It will take less than 30 seconds and will bring us closer to our next and biggest release yet. You even get to help us pick a name for our latest creation!

We hope you like more games because your Blinks game library is getting its biggest upgrade yet. The Next-Gen Blink is just like your original Blinks, but extra special–it has the ability to talk to your phone.

The Next-Gen Blink isn’t the only exciting update, because with great power comes… The Blinks App. We love the games the community has designed, and with 800+ developer kits in the wild, we can’t wait to bring more Blinks community games to life, together.

The Blinks App brings the best experience yet to find games you love and have them at your fingertips, everywhere you go. No more need for instruction booklets or searching YouTube for the right video. Moreover, the Blinks App unlocks new capabilities for Blinks, such as high scores and achievements, and our commitment to open-source means that there is a goldmine of possibility.

Here's the coolest part!!! All of your existing Blinks don't become obsolete, instead, they all get access to this new Blinks game store. By design, Blinks were created to play an infinite amount of games, and introducing this singular Next-Gen Blink unleashes new power for the Blinks that you've already collected.

So how does it work?!

The Next-Gen Blink learns games from a tap of your phone. The magic of near field communication (NFC), allows for the transfer of games and achievements. The Blinks App allows you to browse a library of games already published, purchase, and download them directly to your blinks. We’re excited to feature new games from celebrity game designers as well as first-time game makers in the same space.

We can’t wait to bring you the Next-Gen Blink, and if you would like to be one of the first to try it out, take a moment to fill out the short survey, so we can understand better the needs of our community.

Hope you all are doing well in the new year. This update is short and sweet to make sure that all outstanding Kickstarter items are taken care of by the end of the month. Move38 has a  wonderful new team member and they are making sure that your Blinks arrive safely and completely.

If you have not been in touch with the Move38 team via email ([email protected]) and you are missing any items from your Kickstarter or Backerkit rewards, please fill out this form below by the end of this week(2/12). Requests made after this date will not be fulfilled this month.  Submitting this form on time allows us to get all outstanding Sushi Roll cases, or other items, shipped your way.
